William, WenYuan Wong, the president of the Formosa Plastics Group, was awarded the 11th 2016 Compassion Award. For many years, President Wong has treated philanthropy as both a responsibility and a habit, applying the management principles used in running the company to "manage" charitable efforts. He has systematically and comprehensively promoted social welfare and charity initiatives in Taiwan and Mainland China, reaching out to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, prisoners, individuals with disabilities, women, and children, benefiting countless people in society.

President Wong donated the full 90,000 USD prize from the Compassion Award to charity and further contributed by donating additional funds to the Taiwanese Ministry of Justice, expanding the "AIDS Prevention and Prison Drug Rehabilitation Program" in other prisons. His goal is to help more drug offenders reintegrate into normal society and family life. President Wong said, "If we can help one person, it is equivalent to helping a family and contributing to social stability."
